Check out these recent media stories about this Women’s Media Center project designed to amplify the voices of all pro-choice groups working to get health reform that is fair, safe, and covers all reproductive health care services for women regardless of who’s paying for their insurance plan.
Liz O’Donnell writes about the campaign and why it’s important in her blog, Hello Ladies.
The fact that these two amendments were even introduced and carried so much weight, signals a renewed interest by some to restrict women’s rights, not expand them. Women have raised their voices during the national debate on healthcare to demand equal coverage for equal premiums – to tell Congress we are not a pre-existing condition. And we were dismayed to see how our health was ultimately used as a bargaining chip to pass healthcare reform. In order to “to amplify the voices of women and organizations devoted to a health care reform that is fair to women,” the Women’s Media Center has launched “Not Under The Bus.”
Women’s eNews gave the campaign a mention in its must-read Saturday column, “Cheers and Jeers,” as a cheer of course!
Fred Clarkson’s analysis on Daily Kos showing that the fundamental problem is the Hyde amendment and the willingness of pro-choice politicians to capitulate to it is published in full below.
You can listen to Barbara Glickstein, host of WBAI radio’s Healthstyles program, who highlighted notunderthebus.com Friday, Dec. 11.
